NOUVEAU SHANGHAI: Black White and New Jade
Nouveau Shanghai is a six-tiered hand-beaded gemstone statement piece. 2 beautiful stones of New Jade, or serpentine give this black and white necklace a pop of color. Its namesake comes from the China-inspired New Jade. The black and white sparkle here is reminiscent of the sexy city lights and night life of Shanghai.
Serpentine (also known as New Jade) is a protection stone. It is said that after Adam and Eve ate from the tree of knowledge, the remainder of the forbidden fruit they had eaten turned to serpentine. Serpentine has been used for centuries as a strong protection amulet to help guard from dangers. In ancient folk medicine, serpentine was used to ward off snakes, and cure snake bites. Serpentine is fire-resistant, and Romans used it for protection from sorcery and dark arts.
This necklace drapes down elegantly in 6 tiers of gemstones, pearls, and crystals. The number invoked throughout the beading of the necklace is the number 6 or multiples of 6. There are 6 rondelle stones of snowflake obsidian. Snowflake obsidian, which comes from volcanic rock, is considered a protection stone, and resonates with the fire element. This gives the stones and the wearer energy, strength, and the vigor of fire. The Apache and Aztecs placed great importance on obsidian, and snowflake obsidian was often carried by shamans as a protection stone to ward off evil spirits. The snowflake obsidian supports and augments the protection powers of the serpentine.
There are 12 stones of black onyx. Black onyx is said to possess protective energies that ward off negativity. This augments the powers and metaphysical properties of the snowflake obsidian. Black onyx is a separating stone that extracts negative energies from you and releases it. This stone enhances self-control and self mastery; it is a grounding stone. Wear it as a talisman for independence, fearlessness, and for protection and strength in new ventures.
There are also 12 stunning, diamond-shape pieces of blue goldstone. Goldstone was first made during the European Renaissance, and is neither gold nor stone. It is made from tiny flecks of copper suspended in colored glass, a process originating from Italian monks who had been practicing alchemy. Blue goldstone is a stone for science and wisdom, and a powerful energy generator. Goldstone stimulates vitality.
Finally, the Nouveau Shanghai necklace is finished off with black glass fashion beads, synthetic pearls, and crystals, set in pods of 6 or multiples of 6. In Renaissance times, 6 was believed to be a perfect number. There are also associations between the number 6 and the passion of the Christ.
The Nouveau Shanghai six-tiered beaded gemstone statement necklace calls on the essence and romance of Shanghai. It is a sleek, modern necklace that will get you noticed! This summer, transform your tubetop day look into night with the dazzling Nouveau Shanghai statement gemstone necklace.

Hematite is not a gemstone as many believe, but an iron oxide mineral containing high iron content. The natural and chemical properties of hematite make it a strong grounding and protection stone. Hematite was traditionally known as a bloodstone, and used as an amulet to protect the circulatory system and regulate blood flow. Native American folklore held that hematite made one invincible in battle. This parallels Vedic astrological associations of hematite with the planet Mars, which channels courage, strength, and powerful energies.
The beads and gemstones are set in pods that are multiples of 3, 6, or 9. This is to harness the powers of numerology. In Vedic numerology, the number 3 helps channel creativity and self-expression; 6 represents healing, harmony, and compassion, and 9 for success and prosperity.
Choker necklace measures 15 inches in length and closes by a magnetic drum clasp. Ancient civilizations believed in the healing properties and health benefits of magnets. Magnetism in the clasp is impressively strong, and incorporated into the jewelry design specifically to help in relieving stress, regulate blood circulation, and complement the metaphysical properties of the hematite. Black onyx is a separating stone that extracts negative energies from you and releases it. This stone enhances self-control and self mastery; it is a grounding stone. Wear it as a talisman for independence, fearlessness, and for protection and strength in new ventures.
Hematite and moonstone are secondary gemstone features in this piece. Moonstone is thought to carry with it lunar energies that help ease stress and anxiety. White moonstone specifically helps with spiritual growth. While the black onyx and hematite stones facilitate emotional and physical strength, moonstone is for spiritual strength. Heightened intuition will help the wearer ward off negativity, and will work in cooperation with the protection properties of the snowflake obsidian and black onyx.

ICE AND STARLIGHT: Aqua Blue Crystals, Moonstone and Pearl Necklace
Ice and Starlight is a multi-textured crystals and gemstone statement piece. The necklace drapes in four tiers of blue, white, silver, and black, with silver beads and pearls braided at the ends. 21.5 inches of light sapphire Austrian crystals, moonstone, hematite, pearls, and black and silver fashion beads will give the wearer of this Ice and Starlight statement necklace an enchanting look.
The light sapphire Austrian crystals are AB-coated, which refract a rainbow spectrum, giving these crystals their dazzle. Although referred to as "Austrian crystals," these crystal beads are sourced from Germany. Austrian crystals are man-made, and are essentially blown glass.
Blue is the color of a traditionalist, and spirituality. Blue is considered sacred to many cultures and religions, and represents paradise. Blue is associated with the visuddha, or throat chakra, and thus wearing blue enhances spirituality, intuition, and clairvoyance.
The blue crystals are balanced out in color with the white, silver, and black. White symbolizes clarity, divinity, and the pure. Black is a grounding color. Silver and gray (the silver-tone fashion beads and hematite stones) represent intellect and knowledge. Combined together, the color scheme enhances the wearer's perceptions and both physical and spiritual senses. It is an especially protecting amulet when worn by a single woman for a night out. The Ice and Starlight necklace looks stunning with a little black dress and pumps.
The 4 tiers of beadwork call on the numerological significance of the number 4, which is a grounding and construction number, one helpful to artists. The number 4 grounds the artist. In Christian mythology, the number 4 represents God's creations, and the creative powers of God. 4 is a number for nature: there are 4 seasons, spring, summer, autumn, and winter; 4 elements, earth, air, fire, and water; 4 directions of the earth, north, south, east, and west; and according to the Bible and Western civilization, 4 divisions of the day, morning, noon, evening, and midnight; and 4 rivers to cross to Paradise. In Hebrew traditions, 4 represents the four levels of the hierarchical organism of the Torah, and the four worlds of the Kabbalah. Interestingly, the number 4 has parallels in Eastern traditions: in Hinduism, 4 represents totality and creation, as Brahma, the Creator, is 4-faced. 4 is also significant in Islam, represented by the 4 parts of the Principle: Creator; Universal Spirit; Universal Soul; and primordial matter. In Pythagorean philosophy, 4 is perfection.
There are a total of 28 blue crystals while the pearls and moonstone beads appear in pods of 6. According to number theory, 6 and 28 being perfect numbers. The hematite stones, black fashion beads, and silver fashion beads appear in pods of 8 or 9, or multiples of 8 or 9. Per Eastern numerology, all things that come in 8 is considered to be extremely lucky, and the number 8 brings with it prosperity. The number 9 represents eternity.
The gemstones complementing the crystals are moonstone and hematite. Moonstone is thought to carry with it lunar energies that help ease stress and anxiety. White moonstone specifically helps with spiritual growth. While hematite stones facilitate emotional and physical strength, moonstone is for spiritual strength. Moonstone is also considered a traveler's stone, because it protects its wearer through travels and new ventures.
There is a total of 117 hematite stones in Ice and Starlight, set in pods of 9. Note also that 1+1+7 is 9, again to conjure the metaphysical properties of the number 9.
Overall, the message the Ice and Starlight crystals and gemstone necklace sends is one of enchantment. Closes by a silver-tone round toggle clasp and is beaded with black Wildfire beading thread.

GAIA BELOVED: Unakite and Moss Agate Mother's Necklace
Gaia Beloved is a gemstone necklace perfect for mothers, expecting mothers, or a woman who seeks harmony, balance, relief from stress, and closer familial relationships. The necklace comprises of 2 natural unakite stone medallions and 10 stones of green moss agate. Both unakite and green moss agate helps improve the heart chakra, which is associated with compassion, love, and harmony.
Agates are powerful stones that help foster love and abundance, with moss agate being the most powerful of the agates. Agates are used as calming agents, to help reduce stress and bring harmony and balance to its wearer. For centuries it has been used by midwives to help during the birthing process. Folk medicine held that placing agate stones in water for cooking and drinking helped dispel sickness. Agate is a semi-precious gemstone formed from silicon dioxide, and this particular moss agate is found in limestone and granite earthed from Mexico.
There are 10 stones of agate, with the number 10 representative of unification, harmony between dualities, harmony between the yin and the yang, and balance. 1 is said to symbolize man and 0 woman, so 10 together is the union of man and woman. 10 is also the Pythagorean symbol of the universe and thus it represents the whole body of human knowledge. The number 10 represents ordinal perfection. 10 is totality. Thus, the number 10 here reinforces the metaphysical balancing and harmonizing powers of the agate.
Unakite is a natural stone formed from quartz, feldspar and epidote. The lovely coral-pink hues come from the feldspar. Unakite is believed to be a connecting stone, to help bring entities or bodies together in harmony. It is considered a lucky stone for mothers of young children, pregnant women, or women who are expecting. Considering their properties, green moss agate and unakite make the perfect combination for a mother’s amulet. Also, unakite is believed to contain calming energies, and also helps in reducing stress and imbalances. There are 2 unakite stone medallions in the Gaia Beloved, symbolizing the relationship between mother and child, or interpersonal relationships generally.
The necklace is 32 inches in length and may be worn as a single strand or doubled into a choker. The magnetic drum clasp makes it easy to put on and off, or loop around for a double strand. Can also be worn as a bracelet. Since the ends close by magnetic clasp, you can wrap it around your wrist and the magnets will snap together. Incredibly easy to take on and off, and versatile; yet the magnetisim is very strong and secure.
9 synthetic matte amber beads accent each end of this necklace. Between the gemstones are antique style glass and fashion mixed beads in 3 strands, braided into a rope. Each section of braided beadwork contains 54 beads per strand, or 162 beads. All pods of mixed beads are in groups of 6, 9, or multiples of 6 and 9. The number 6 heightens love, balance, and harmony, and therefore heigtens the properties of the agate and unakite gemstones. 9 is an auspicious number per Chinese traditions, and the 9 and multiples of 9 here are meant to bring good luck and a long healthy life to both mother and baby. 9 is also another number for harmony per Western folklore.

Moonstone is thought to carry with it lunar energies that help ease stress and anxiety. White moonstone specifically helps with spiritual growth. ARTISTA INFINITA: Infinite Loop Gemstone Necklace
This one-of-a-kind infinite loop necklace is a synthesis of natural hematite, black onyx, red goldstone, blue goldstone, and dazzling Austrian crystals. The color palette on this design is black, dark charcoal gray (the hematite), red, gold, and topaz. The colors suggest fortune, fortuity, and great strength. Beads are strung in specific number sets to harness the powers and energies of the numbers 11, 22, and 30, which are suitable for intensifying creative and life energies, and brings its wearer harmony and mastery in all pursuits.
The Artista Infinita features 30 stones of natural black onyx. Black onyx is said to possess protective energies that ward off negativity. It is a separating stone that extracts negative energies from you and releases it. This stone enhances self-control and self mastery; it is a grounding stone. Wear it as a talisman for independence, fearlessness, and for protection and strength in new ventures. The number 30 influences altruism and is the number for humanity. 30 represents great wisdom and great creativity, a perfect number to be channeled for artists, musicians, and writers. The number 30 combined with black onyx will be very lucky for anyone in the creative professions.
There are 132 beads of hematite, appearing in pods of 11, or as accents in pods of 3. The number 11 channels energies for intuition and illumination. In some cultures, 11 represents infinity. Numerologists believe the number 11:11 appears more frequently in the universe than any other number, and refer to this phenomenon as synchronicity. Synchronicity indicates the presence of spiritual and mystical forces, heightening intuition and illumination.
(Additionally, 132 is 11 x 12, with the hematite beads appearing only in pods of 11 or 3, and the power of the numbers augmented by the 2 hematite hearts, with the number patterns here reduced down to 1, 2, and 3.)
2 hematite heart pendants anchor either side of this infinite looped necklace. The numbers 2 and 11 are parallel and related, as they are equally charged, and both channel energies for intuition and illumination. “Two of hearts” is also for Love, and the two hematite hearts are used here to ground, strengthen, and stabilize the powers of love. The two hearts keeps relationships together. Infuse these 2 hearts with the meaning of any relationship personal to you: two lovers, mother and daughter, best friends, or 2 kindred spirits. Thus, the Artista Infinita necklace makes a perfect gift for the one who is of similar heart as yours.
The two hematite hearts also aids its wearer in maintaining all relationships, whether it be the relationships between lovers, friends, or colleagues. The two hearts represent a resonance with humanity.
10 stunning, diamond-shape pieces of blue goldstone are interspersed throughout. The number 10 is significant here because it represents unification, harmony between dualities, harmony between yins and yangs, and balance. 1 is said to symbolize man and 0 woman, so 10 together is the union of man and woman. 10 is also the Pythagorean symbol of the universe and thus it represents the whole body of human knowledge. The number 10 represents ordinal perfection. 10 is totality.
Red goldstone renews strength, revitalizes both mind and body, and like blue goldstone, is a positive energy generator. The color red is a stimulant, and as it is the color of blood, combined with goldstone, intensifies the power of the stone’s energies. The color red also stimulates passion, fortune, and great prosperity. Red is about life, and red goldstone helps channel the energies for living a fruitful, fortuitous life.
Artista Infinita also features 6 large topaz tinted Austrian crystals. These crystals are sourced from Germany and its gold hues perfectly compliment the red goldstones.
The number 6 is associated with Venus, goddess of Love, and also represents harmony, total love, and the spiral form of the number is linked to the concept of infinity, which the Artista Infinita necklace is designed in--in an infinite loop. In Renaissance times, 6 was believed to be a perfect number. There are also associations between the number 6 and the passion of the Christ.
The gemstone design is finished with black glass fashion beads, set in pods of 11 or 22 to reinforce the powers and energies of 132 hematite beads. In numerology, the number 11 channels perfection and 22 mastery of arts and success in all endeavors. 22 is the number for ambition. Introduction to a few stable gemstones in the Summer 2011 collection.
Sourcing the gemstone beads from around the world, Ananda Koro is hard at work on a new collection of statement necklaces. Above is a snapshot of some of the gemstones that just arrived: aventurine for wealth and prosperity (green); snowflake obsidian to induce clarity and avert negative energies (black and gray); agate for strength, a stone for the warrior women among us (beige); and coral for harmony (pink orange).
Combining the coral with the unakite medallions, which are also stones that induce calmness, will result in a piece that would make a great gift for a woman who is expecting, aiding her in finding center of gravity and connecting with the new baby. Such a necklace would also be a great stress reliever and is highly recommended for anyone who has been under a lot of pressure at work or school. Both the coral and unakite are calming agents, and attract stability and peace.
In contrast, red goldstone is all about energy! One of the center pieces of the upcoming collection will be a multistrand necklace of red goldstone, gold redstone, and smoky quartz and topaz Austrian crystals. The black onyx is a great stone for those who are starting out new ventures in their lives, seeking independence, or in the process of transformations. This stone eases those processes. Red goldstone invigorates the spirit and brings vitality to its wearer. The crystals magnify the powers of the red goldstone and black onyx. These gemstones will be combined with fashion and seed beads to create a stunning three-tiered stone treasure.
This year Austrian crystals will be introduced into the collection. Although referred to as "Austrian crystals," these crystal beads are sourced from Germany. Austrian crystals are all man-made, and is essentially blown glass, specifically designed to maximize refraction; hence, the dazzle. Our crystals are AB coated, which is why the beads refract a rainbow spectrum.
